Special Presenter — Steve Lingeman — Wednesday, November 19
On Wednesday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m., The Photography Club of Lower Fairfield County is pleased to announce a special evening of photographic entertainment and education. Our presenter Steve Lingeman, will show a film about Ansel Adams’ life and work. This Rick Burns film was originally part of the PBS series American Experience.
In the film, interviews are conducted with John Sarkowski, deceased former director of the MOMA photography department, William Turnage, the Principal director of the Ansel Adams Trust, Ansel’s children and other well known photography icons. The film focuses on Adams’ early years the formation of his ideas about photography as an art form. The later part of the film focuses on the years after Adams’ 62nd birthday when he made all of his money.
As an added treat, Steve will bring along a collection of Ansel Adams original signed photographs from the Eric Aitkin collection. Steve will set these up one by one in our viewing box and we can file by to have a close (but not too close) look. Eric was a photographer (large format) and a collector, who attended several of Adams’ workshops in Yosemite National Park, where many of Adams’ most famous photographs were made.
Steve has also recently opened a large format digital printing studio in Hartsdale, New York (just over the line in Westchester). Those who attend will be given a coupon for a custom 36 x 42 inch print from their own work printed on matte paper at Steve’s studio.
So please join us on what sounds like a fantastic evening.
