We are pleased to welcome the following judges for this evening’s competition, bio’s courtesy of Roger Busch:

MIRELLA HIGAR

Mirella was born in Beirut, Lebanon where she studied Art History and Business as an undergraduate.  After coming to the United States and settling in Greenwich, she received her masters in Art History at Manhattanville College.

Mirella now teaches photography at Manhattansville and she is the curator of the Les Beaux Arts Gallery at the Round Hill Community Church.

MARC JAFFE

The following is an excerpt from Marc’s website http://www.marcjaffe.com.  Some of the coments refer to the images on that site:

"After growing up in Southern Vermont, Marc studied at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CT, as well as the Museum  School of Fine Arts in Boston.  He has been a commercial photographer, graphic artist and web designer in recent years.

As a photographer Marc stretched the line between commercial photography and fine art.  The work Marc handed the client was a combination of his love for the amazing quality of painting with light and his unconventional approach to product photography.

Marc’s "Moving Trees" has been an ongoing project going back many years.  The process started with film and has progressed to digital photography.  The paintbrush effect is created in the camera through Marc’s special shooting technique.  The combination of stillness and movement is unique to each landscape and in un-retouched.  These images are taken while driving througout Westchester County in New York and Fairfield County in Connecticut.

Marc’s "Horse Play" series is a natural evolution of his "Altered Reality" project, developing from his deep connection and relationship with animals.  Marc’s playful nature makes an instant connection with the horses, enabling him to photograph genuine reactions that are dynamic, vibrant and engaging."

THOMAS MCGRATH

Tom lives in Armonk and is now a freelance mixed media artist.  His booth at the recent Armonk Art Fair created quite a bit of excitement.

Formerly Tom was a TV producer with a 30 year career at major NYC ad agencies including Leo Burnett and J. Walter Thomson.  The list of his accounts is way too long for this announcement.  Suffice to say there is not a product that you use that he has not shot.

This is Tom’s first time as one of our judges.
