Well, word from an employee of Buttonwood Farm was that a big majority of the sunflowers were not opened yet last Saturday, so we opted to postpone the trip for one week. For those that missed the last posting of this trip, below are the particulars again. Hope to see you Satufday.
PCLFC is happy to announce field trip for the month of July, to Buttonwood Farm in Griswold, CT. This is a place I’ve been interested in going to for sometime now, and I remembered it early enough this year to catch the main attraction — 14 acres of sunflowers! I spoke to the owner, Duane Button, and he said that the sunflowers should be in bloom right around July 19 or so, weather depending. So, here’s our chance to capture the beauty of sunflowers, lots of them.
They also have their own homemade ice cream that they sell on the premises as well, so bring your sweet tooth along with your camera–they have a lot of flavors.
FYI: Griswold, CT is on the border of CT/RI. It’s about 90 miles away from Fairfield so it will be a couple hours drive. Duane says that just about all of the sunflower fields see the sunset (not so much the sunrise). This is the reason for setting the meeting time later in the day. I plan to stay probably close to sunset, but you may want to leave earlier than that.
